Freelance Front End Software Engineer
Mon Nov 21 2022 - Present
I am a front end software engineer 👩🏼💻, who turned a coding hobby into a career. I am also a career changer, having spent almost 25 years in the healthcare industry as a nurse/nurse practitioner 🩺. With that career change, I bring years of professionalism, empathy, determination, and creativity in problem-solving. 👉🏼 I believe that great communication is a hallmark of strong collaboration, effective teams ❤️. 👉🏼 I am passionate about creating engaging websites that are fully accessible to all users. 👉🏼 I enjoy creating wireframes that bring a person's ideas to fruition, and then translating from wireframe to code. I love creating beautiful designs 🎨, UI effects, and intuitive, dynamic user experiences. Let's build something special 🪷!
I am a proud mom of 3 girl athletes, so when I'm not tapping away on the keyboard, you will find me at the soccer field, basketball court, or track. I also love to travel and crochet in my down time.

• A news app that is connected to the New York Times API, featuring current top news stories. The user is able to view all top stories, or filter stories by category by clicking on a category name in the top navigation bar. A user can click on a story tile to see more details about each story, as well as have the link to the full story on the NYT website.
• This project was a personal challenge to continue to practice and improve with React.js skills and libraries, Router, and RESTful APIs. I love fiddling with styling and layout, so no project is complete without design enhancements.
• Built in a paired team, this application will allow a user to view a movie library, click on an individual movie poster to see full details of that selected movie, and watch a trailer of the selected movie.
• The purpose of the project was to implement a React framework, utilize React Router, and perform End-to-End testing using Cypress. We also used GitHub Projects to create issues and practice an agile workflow.
• Welcome to Bookworm, the app that remembers the book for you 📚. Browse through the lists from the New York Times Bestsellers, filter by genre or view them all. Hover over a book to see more details, such as author, publisher, and description. Save books that sound interesting so that your list is ready the next time you are at the library, bookstore or online, you'll never have to wonder which book you wanted to read next.
• This is the final showcase solo project for Module 3 of Turing School of Software and Design 👩🏼💻. The purpose of the project was to create a React act from the ground up, in a week. This application utilizes React Router and performs End-to-End testing using Cypress.
• The purpose of this project was to allow students to practice some of the foundational concepts of HTML and CSS, recreating a sample layout.
• The project allowed us to personalize/entertain different ideas with HTML/CSS.
• Solo project built with vanilla JavaScript, HTML and CSS. It's an earthy twist on the classic game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. The user can choose their treehugger avatar, and battle it out against the computer.
• Get lost in the battle of the elements, whether it be the classic version, with fire, earth and water dueling it out, or the challenge version in which wind and ether are added to the mix.
• Habitual was a "stretch tech" project, working in a team of 3. We had one week to teach ourselves a new technology and build an app to demonstrate the technology.
• Habitual was built using React Native, based in iOS. It allows a user to browse through a list of randomly generated compliments and positive mantras, and save them to a favorites list.
